FORMULA FORD SIGNS UP FOR SPA

9 January, 2008: The British Formula Ford Championship is to spread its wings to mainland Europe later this season with a meeting at the Belgian Grand Prix circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.

The twin-race June date at Spa will see the British Championship joining forces with drivers from the Benelux series and will, says Sam Roach, of championship promoter RacingLine, provide a memorable weekend.

He said: "It's not often that young drivers are afforded the opportunity to tackle one of the world's greatest circuits, and I am sure it will be a highlight of the British Formula Ford season. We have enjoyed welcoming our Benelux counterparts, whose championship has also adopted the Duratec power unit, in the UK in recent seasons and I know that they are keen to reciprocate."

Another highlight of the 25-race British Formula Ford calendar is a support slot on the A1GP visit to the UK, at Brands Hatch in early May. Formula Ford will also support the British F3 International Series at all its UK dates, and will in addition visit Knockhill in Scotland to support the British GT Championship.

The 2008 British Formula Ford Championship opens its books for driver registrations tomorrow (Thursday) at the Autosport International racing car show at the NEC, Birmingham. The championship will feature on the British Racing and Sports Car Club stand and Formula Fordsters will also be in action in the show's Live Action Arena during the four-day event.
