PRIX SHOOTOUT MEN CLAIM JTR DRIVES
28 March 2010:
With less than a week to go before the opening rounds of the 2010
Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain, the
race-winning JTR team has confirmed its participation with cars
for Grand Prix Shootout winners Tio Ellinas and Dani Domit.
JTR driver Josef
Newgarden was in contention for the 2009 Formula Ford crown right
up to the final meeting of the season, and won nine races - two
more than title winner James Cole - and JTR's Nick Tandy reckons
his new chargers can take up where the young American left off.
"These two
guys have been selected by the Grand Prix Shootout people as the
best young talent out there, and we are absolutely delighted they
will be running with us," says Tandy. "It's going to be
difficult for them to be fully up to speed at Oulton - we would
have liked to have done 10 or 12 days testing with them by this
stage - but if we can get some good top-six results there we will
be delighted, because we are only going to get faster as we do
more testing with them."
Eighteen-year-old
Ellinas has a string of karting championship victories from his
native Cyprus, and was the 2005 World ROK Cup champion. Domit, 21
and from Mexico City, is a motorsport novice who, despite his lack
of experience, impressed contest judge Rob Wilson sufficiently to
earn his place alongside Ellinas. Both will drive JTR-prepared
Mygales.
Other additions to
the entry list for the Oulton Park opening rounds of the
Ford-backed series over the Easter weekend (3-5 Apr) include cars
for 16-year-old karting stars Max McGuire (DW Racing Ray) and Adam
Parsley (Harkesport Mygale), as well as a Mygale from GV Racing
for 2009 Scholarship class race winner Josh Benson. A 27-car field
is anticipated. |
