TANDY CLAIMS MAIDEN PORSCHE SUPERCUP VICTORY

12 July 2010: In front of home crowds at Silverstone, former Formula Ford frontrunner and JTR team boss Nick Tandy yesterday fulfilled the dream of his first victory in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. At the wheel of Konrad Motorsport's Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the Supercup rookie won the sixth round of the season with a 5.572 second advantage over René Rast (Germany).

The decisive moment on the 5.898 kilometre Grand Prix track came already at the start. Tandy made the most of his pole position and beat a hard-charging Rast to the first corner. Setting one fastest race lap after the other, the local hero pulled away from the rest of the field.

"What a race," said Nick. "The opening phase was tough but became easier towards the end. The start was quite tight and I had to pull out all stops to keep René behind me. Over the first two laps he kept up the pressure, but afterwards I was able to pull away somewhat and in the last laps I saw on the huge screens lining the circuit how my team-mate Patrick secured third place. What a day for Konrad Motorsport!"
