NEWS: Cammish and KMR aim for 2010 title
11 Feb 2010:
The Spectrum chassis is set for its strongest showing in the
Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain in 2010,
with Daniel Cammish choosing to remain with Kevin Mills Racing,
the team which guided him to a resounding victory in the 2009
UKFFC Scholarship class. Daniel will step out of his older,
Scholarship class Spectrum 011 and into a 2010 Spectrum 012 in his
quest for the championship.
With the category
changing tyre manufacturer this year, from Avon to Dunlop, Daniel
is taking the opportunity of travelling down to Australia in early
February to undertake a week of testing with the factory Spectrum
team. The knowledge and experience gained in testing the new tyres
will be invaluable to the team’s campaign this season.
Daniel commented
that the more research he did, the clearer the option of staying
with KMR and Spectrum became; “We did our homework on what to do
this year, no question of that. We spoke to almost every other
team and drove other cars. Time wise there isn’t much in it, but
the Spectrum is more forgiving and definitely a much more
comfortable and easier car to physically drive.” He added, “We’re
very comfortable that we have the equipment to do the job. Kev
(Mills) and his team are totally focused on winning and the
support and enthusiasm from the Spectrum factory is amazing.”
Speaking from his
Gloucester base, team owner Kevin Mills said, “We’re delighted
to be working with Dan again this year. Last year was his first
season racing cars; he scored pole positions in qualifying and was
very unlucky not to have recorded outright race wins. The deal
with Spectrum is superb. I can call Mike (Borland) whenever I need
to and discuss what we’re doing. He offers full technical
support and I am always surprised at how quickly they get
development parts up to us when we need them. We can’t wait for
the first round at Oulton Park!”
Mike Borland,
designer and constructor of the Spectrum chassis, was equally
pleased with the news. “This will be our third season with Kev
and his team and each year has been better. KMR achieved victories
with UKFFC rookies in Adrian Campfield in 2008 and Daniel Erickson
in 2009; and it was a fitting reward for the effort everyone has
put in. To have Dan Cammish back as a second year, experienced
driver is fantastic. He did a great job in his rookie season,
winning the Scholarship class and we believe he is ready for the
challenge of the Championship battle this season,” he said. |
