Driver news from
Daniel Cammish 15/10/2009: Daniel Cammish would like to thank
the Kevin Mills Racing team for all their hard work through out
his rookie car racing season. After an excellent start consisting
of 1 pole, 3 podiums and 13 consecutive top 6 finishes, Daniel
finished the year 6th in the overall standings and Scholarship
Champion. Daniel won 17 out of the 23 races he contested in the
Scholarship class to comfortably seal the title even with having
to miss the double header on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
"It has been a
fantastic first season of car racing for me and i must say a big
thank you to all of the Kevin Mills team for their hard work
especially for my engineer Brian Soule. They have given me a good
car all season and one which I have been able to run consistently
at the sharp end of the championship."
Daniel narrowly
missed out on 5th overall in the championship to Kevin Mills team
mate Daniel Erickson but knew this was a possibility late in the
season with dove tailing some ADAC rounds with Formula Ford.
Daniel says
"We were approached by Austrian team Neuhauser Racing who
offered me the chance to race ADAC Formel Master in Germany for
the final 3 meetings of the championship. The deal was too good to
refuse and gave me a chance to experience slicks and wings racing
for the first time. Unfortunately it meant i had to miss the
Brands Hatch Grand Prix round of the Formula Ford championship but
in doing so i have raised my profile in Germany considerably and
have a number of opportunities for 2010 that were previously
unknown. At the end of the day people will not remember 5th or 6th
in the Championship when my only aim was to gain experience in
2009 and to progress my career into 2010, so I have no regrets as
I have gained a lot of experience from my racing in Europe."
Daniel now looks
forward to his final race of the season at Oschersleben near
Berlin in Germany for round 8 of the Formel ADAC championship.
After taking 5th position and fastest lap in his latest race at
the Sachsenring Daniel is confident of a good result, "This
will be my 3rd outing for the team and with little or no testing
time before the race weekends it has taken me until now to really
get on top of the car. Last time out I had a great result and if
only I had more laps before qualifying I’m sure I could have
raced even further to the front. Luckily there will be a Thursday
test at Oschersleben so I won’t be going into qualifying as
blind this time so I’m hoping for a good result"
As soon as Daniel
returns from Germany he will be taking a well earned holiday
before starting testing for 2010. |
