WIDE SCREEN TV DEALS PUT FORMULA FORD IN SPOTLIGHT

6 April, 2009: The MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain will this season enjoy its best-ever level of television coverage, it is announced today (Mon), with exposure not only on satellite broadcaster Motors TV but also on the mainstream UK station Channel 4.

In previous seasons the Ford-backed championship was available only on satellite TV, but the new deals forged by Britain's leading motorsport television producer, HayFisher, give the championship free-to-view reach not just in the UK but across Europe also.

Selected rounds of the championship will enjoy 30-minute stand-alone programmes on Motors TV and on Saturday mornings on Channel 4, fitting in and around coverage for the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series and Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

Motors TV reaches 9.7m UK homes via Sky Channel 413, as well as 15.9m homes Europe-wide.

"It's a great boost for Formula Ford," said championship director Sam Roach, of RacingLine. "This will give the series and its competitors a real boost at a time when sponsors are demanding a strong return on their investments."

The first Formula Ford programme on Motors TV - which will feature footage of the coming weekend's trio of opening races from Oulton Park - airs at 1900 on Saturday 25 April, with several repeats in the days following: full details of timings can be found here.
