WAYNE BOYD CLAIMS FESTIVAL VICTORY

20 October, 2008: British Formula Ford Champion Wayne Boyd capped his title-winning season with another memorable victory yesterday at Brands Hatch, the Ulsterman claiming top honours in the historic Formula Ford Festival.

It was a superb early birthday present for Templepatrick-based Boyd - he turns 18 on Saturday - and was another dominant performance. Wayne's Jamun Racing Mygale led the final all the way from pole position to chequered flag to win by 4.3 seconds from Dutch driver Chris Maliepaard. Third place went to another Jamun driver, Australian Tim Blanchard. Drivers from the British Formula Ford Championship (this season and last) filled the top six.

Boyd adds his name to an illustrious roster of Formula Ford Festival winners which includes such Grand Prix luminaries as Anthony Davidson, Jenson Button, Mark Webber, Eddie Irvine and Johnny Herbert.

Wayne's next big date with destiny comes in early November, when he will be assessed along with five other young hot shots to determine who wins the McLaren Autosport Award and its £50,000 career-enhancing top prize.
