KMR SIGNS JONES FOR '09

17 November, 2008: Kevin Mills Racing has joined the rush to sign drivers for Formula Ford 2009, the Gloucestershire-based squad having secured promising Welsh youngster Alex Jones to drive one of its three works-supported Spectrum chassis.

Anglesey-based Jones, 20, enjoyed a successful maiden season in the Ford-backed championship's Scholarship Class in 2008, winning the class on six occasions - four of those wins at the wheel of a KMR Spectrum.

"We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship with Alex in 2009," said Kevin Mills, "and fully expect him to be a championship contender. KMR will be continuing its development programme with Borland Racing over the winter, in Australia and in the UK, and will be looking to continue our winning form."

KMR adopted the Australian chassis only at the beginning of the '08 season, and its Spectrum was the first alternative chassis to break the Mygale victory-lane stranglehold when Adrian Campfield's machine won at Brands Hatch in July.

Jones's track career began in 2004 in karts; he was British National TKM Open Champion in 2006. He ended his maiden Formula Ford season third in the Scholarship Class and with a best overall race finish of eighth.
