INDIAN RACER SET TO JOIN FORMULA FORD

8 December, 2008: A young Indian racer is to compete in British Formula Ford next year: Zaamin Jaffer has confirmed that he is to drive for the works Raysport team in the championship's Scholarship Class.

The 18-year-old, who lives in the UK and Dubai, hopes to follow in the wheeltracks of his countryman Narain Karthikeyan, who won the British Formula Ford Winter Series in 1996 and who progressed, via British Formula 3, to become in 2005 the first Indian driver in F1.

Zaamin is preparing for the coming season with the help of the Andy Priaulx Performance Management programme. He said: "I have driven many of the UK circuits already and I'm confident that I am with the best team to achieve success." Jaffer began testing the Ray chassis at Donington Park last week and has further outings planned for Brands Hatch and Snetterton in the coming weeks.
