| TANDY
ENDS HIS SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE
22 October,
2007: Nick Tandy turned the tables on his British Formula Ford
Championship rival Callum MacLeod yesterday at Brands Hatch with
victory in the prestigious season-closing Formula Ford Festival.
Callum, the 2007
champion, finished just ahead of Nick on the road but was handed a
two-second penalty by race stewards. They ruled that MacLeod had
braked severely while leading under the safety car, causing Tandy
to collide with the rear of his Mygale. An appeal from MacLeod's
Jamun Racing team was overruled.
Ironically Tandy
was last year denied Formula Ford Festival victory after he was
accused of breaching safety car rules. JTR Ray racer Tandy was
delighted with the way things turned out: "The safety car
rules are very clear and he was in the wrong. It's nice to be on
the right side of a decision like this for once!"
British
championship regulars filled the top eight places in the Duratec
final. The race for Kent-engined cars was won by Ireland's Keith
Dempsey.
It wasn't all bad
news for MacLeod at Brands Hatch yesterday, the 2007 champion took
delivery of his prize car, a Ford Focus ST. Callum received the
keys from Roelant de Waard, Chairman and Managing Director Ford of
Britain.
