motorsport and Avon Tyres has been at the front of the grid for
more than 40 years. Avon Tyres is now the title sponsor and
control tyre supplier of the prestigious British GT
Championship. The series known as the Avon Tyres British GT
Championship features marques such as Aston Martin, Ferrari,
Lotus, Morgan, Mosler, Panoz and Porsche. The company can trace
its sportscar roots back to the 1959 World Championship when
Stirling Moss led the Aston Martin team to the title, including
a dominant 1st & 2nd finish at the Le Mans 24hrs race. In
recent years Avon Tyres have been used to secure many
championship victories in World Sportscar C2, FIA SR2 and ALMS
SR2.

Motorsport has proudly been associated with the British Formula
3 Championship since 1982 and has supplied and supported the
teams with their tyre requirements at over 400 races. It is
widely accepted that British F3 International provides an
excellent opportunity to progress towards Formula 1. Talented
drivers who show their potential in this demanding F3 series
could emulate Jenson Button, Takuma Sato, Mika Hakkinen and
Ayrton Senna by moving straight into the highest echelon of
motorsport.

such as Caterham, Formula Palmer Audi, Thoroughbred Grand Prix
and Supersports. Since 1982 short circuit oval racing series
BriSCA F2 and more recently Pickup Trucks and SCSA have selected
Avon control tyres. Avon Tyres are acknowledged as the preferred
choice in many categories of motorsport including Hillclimb,
Sprints, Historic, Rallycross and Historic Rally.

Motorsport is delighted to have been awarded the contract to
supply Cooper branded radial race tyres manufactured at Cooper
Tire & Rubber European headquarters in Melksham, UK, to the
unique A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport racing series. Cooper
branded racing tyres have been used by Formula Ford 2000 in the
USA since 2000 and from 2007 the highly acclaimed Champ Car
Atlantic Series will also use Cooper branded racing tyres
manufactured by Avon Tyres Motorsport, further enhancing the
company’s global motorsport activities.

Motorsport can trace its motorcycle competition roots back to
1957 with riders such as Geoff Duke, Mike Hailwood and John
Surtees. Avon Tyres were used to win every Motorcycle Grand Prix
solo class from 1958–63, in recent years Avon riders have
amassed 13 Supersport and 4 UK Production Bike Championships,
together with 12 Isle of Man TT and 5 North West 200 victories.
Avon Tyres have also been used to secure several Classic Bike
Championships including race successes for Giacomo Agostini,
Phil Read and Barry Sheene.

competing in Grand Prix, European and National Championships
since 1983. The Rider/Passenger combinations of Steve
Webster/Tony Hewitt, Alan Michel/Simon Burchell and Rolf Biland/Kurt
Waltisberg have accumulated 6 World Sidecar Championships. Avon
Tyres were also used on the sidecar outfits of Mick Boddice/Dave
Wells, Geoff Bell/Keith Cornbill and Nick Crowe/Darren Hope to
achieve 14 Isle of Man TT Sidecar victories.
